BULKHEADS & RETAINING WALLS

Your waterfront property is beautiful…but have you noticed your property eroding over time? If so, you most likely need a bulkhead!

Bulkheads serve as a barrier between water and the surrounding land, helping to prevent the damage caused by soil erosion and flooding. Bulkheads also help to prevent additional erosion which can be caused by a variety of reasons, all of which can be costly to remedy.

In bulkhead construction, the two primary types of materials used are vinyl and wood. Vinyl bulkheads have become more popular in recent years, due to the availability of the material, and the longer lifespan offered. A wood bulkhead is a more traditional option…and generally more esthetically pleasing, while also being an eco-friendlier option. Our experts can help you decide which option is best for you and your project.

A retaining wall serves the same purpose as a bulkhead (erosion prevention), but is constructed entirely on dry land, to retain soil at different elevations on either side of the retaining wall. Retaining walls can also be a wonderful landscaping addition to your home, providing layers and texture to your property.

All of our bulkheads and retaining walls are constructed using the highest quality pressure treated and CCA-approved lumber, ensuring the longest lifespan possible for your project.

DECKS & PATIOS

Are you looking to increase the functionality of your backyard for quality family time, or entertaining? A deck can be a highly efficient way to achieve that goal, while also adding value to your home!

Our carpentry experts can help you determine which material option is best for your deck project…below is a quick overview of the most popular options available!

Pressure-treated pine decking will generally be the most economical choice, with a long lifespan if cared for and maintained with regular preservative and water-resistant treatments.

Cedar decking will give your deck a more natural appearance, while also being more eco-friendly. Cedar is naturally insect and rot-resistant, and can withstand the heavy moisture and humidity experienced in our southern climate.

Composite decking requires little to no maintenance, except a quick rinse off for general cleanup as needed. This option will also have the longest lifespan, due to the makeup of the material, and will not splinter or warp. Composite decking comes in a wide variety of colors and grains offering an almost endless amount of design capabilities and details.

METAL FENCING

Most metal fencing is designed with spaces between each fence picket, meaning that your property will be visible. This characteristic makes metal fencing a more desirable option if you’re looking to maintain scenic views from your yard or property.

An iron fence will be stronger and heavier than aluminum, making this option an ideal choice for high-security and commercial applications. Although iron is a stronger material, it does require a higher amount of routine maintenance.

If you’re a fan of the historic “wrought iron fence” design, often seen in classic images of the French Quarter, and historic Uptown District in New Orleans, our fencing experts can assist you in choosing from a wide variety of shapes, colors, and sizes to achieve the desired look and function of your fence.

While generally cheaper and more manageable than an iron fence, a powder-coated aluminum fence will maintain its classic, “wrought iron” look, and is much lighter than an iron fence. With its ability to resist corrosion and rust, aluminum fencing will maintain its integrity over time, and should never need to be painted. Aluminum fencing comes in a variety of designs, from a more simplistic aesthetic to a more complex and sophisticated design. Our fencing experts can help you choose the best design which will serve as a valuable compliment to your property.

WOOD FENCING

Wood fencing provides an affordable and highly customizable option for your fence project. Our high-quality materials, coupled with our expert craftsmanship, can supply you with a product that adds both value and character to your home or business.

A pine fence is generally our most popular and budget-friendly option. Pine trees grow very quickly, making the materials readily available at an affordable price range. Pine also possesses prominent grains and knots, giving your fence a rustic appearance. A pine fence is also lighter in coloring.

A cedar fence comes with many natural advantages which makes this wood type a more durable material for your fence. While a more expensive option, cedar generally has a longer lifespan than pinewood and is naturally insect-resistant. Cedar is also an eco-friendlier option and requires less maintenance than other wood types.

Both pine and cedar can be used interchangeably, depending on your preference. General types of wood fencing include standard privacy, shadowbox, and “California” style. We can also add a top-cap, fascia, or mudboard to your fence, giving the fence a more finished look.

FLATWORK AND MASONRY

Concrete is a popular choice for homeowners looking to expand or enhance the functionality of their property, due to its versatility, strength, and decorative options. Concrete flatwork entails the pouring and finishing of concrete on a horizontal plane, in or around new and existing structures.

Concrete…and either man-made or natural pavers…are two materials commonly used in flatwork. These applications can be purely aesthetic or (and most commonly) installed as a means to provide a cleaner substrate for both pedestrian or vehicle traffic. It is also a great solution for creating additional space for parties and gatherings. Although not always, the stone is usually laid on top of a concrete sub-base and affixed with mortar providing a longer-lasting finish.

Masonry consists of building structures, walls, walkways, columns, etc. by laying individual pieces of brick, stone, blocks, etc…normally bound with mortar. This highly versatile form of construction can help to add character and value to your home or property.

Our highly skilled flatwork and masonry team can help you in all aspects of your project…from professional drawings in the design phase, to the finished and installed product!
